DRI Catches Man Smuggling Gold Worth Over Rs 1 Crore at Hyderabad Airport
The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) has seized 1,390.85 grams of gold from a passenger at Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA). The gold was being smuggled from Dubai to Hyderabad by a passenger on flight number EK-528 on August 9.
DRI officers intercepted the passenger at the exit area of the International Arrival Hall at RGIA. During the search, they found two yellow-colored large metal bars shaped like batteries in his left shoe and backpack. A yellow-colored metal chain was also recovered.
The man was arrested under the provisions of the Customs Act. Further investigation is in progress.
