Dr. Vikas Divyakirti Promises Safety After Tragic Incident at Delhi Coaching Institute
Following the tragic deaths of three UPSC aspirants due to flooding in the basement of a coaching institute in Delhi, Dr. Vikas Divyakirti, founder and MD of Drishti IAS, has made a public statement. He assured that he would only operate in approved buildings and emphasized the importance of safety measures.
Commitment to Safety
Dr. Divyakirti acknowledged the incident as a result of carelessness and apologized to the entire country. He stated, “We do not take such buildings on rent that do not have fire exits, so that under no circumstances, the life of any child or staff is compromised.”

He mentioned that a divisional head rank officer was appointed 1.5 years ago to oversee building safety. Additionally, a WhatsApp group was created in January 2023 to monitor 16 safety points daily, including ensuring clear fire exits and open roof doors.

Dr. Divyakirti assured that no coaching institute would operate in basements without proper safety exits. He emphasized their commitment to building safety norms and invited surveys to verify their claims.
“I am openly saying that with the kind of effort we put in the matter of building safety norms, I am sure that you will not find it anywhere,” he concluded.
