Dr. Sandip Ghosh Investigated by CBI for Corruption and Suspended by IMA

Dr. Sandip Ghosh, the former principal of RG Kar Medical College in Kolkata, is currently under investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for alleged corruption. This investigation follows an order from the Calcutta High Court, which directed the CBI to probe the matter.

On August 24, the CBI officially registered a First Information Report (FIR) against Dr. Ghosh. A Special Investigation Team from the Calcutta High Court handed over crucial documents to the CBI, prompting the registration of the FIR. The FIR copy was then submitted to the Alipur Chief Judicial Magistrate Court.

As part of the investigation, the CBI conducted a second round of polygraph tests on Dr. Ghosh. The Indian Medical Association (IMA) of Kolkata suspended Dr. Ghosh’s membership amid the ongoing probe.

The investigation also involves the rape-murder of a woman doctor at RG Kar Medical College. The trainee doctor was found dead in the seminar hall of the institution on August 9. The Calcutta High Court has given the CBI three weeks to submit a progress report on the investigation, which is due on September 17.

Additionally, the Supreme Court has ordered the security of RG Kar Medical College to be handed over to the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) while hearing the suo motu case concerning the incident.
