Dr. Sandip Ghosh, the former principal of RG Kar Medical Hospital and College, was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for alleged financial irregularities. The arrest followed a directive from the Calcutta High Court.

Medical Tests Conducted

Doctors from B. R. Singh Hospital, Eastern Railway, conducted medical tests on Dr. Ghosh and three others who were arrested. The doctors left the CBI’s anti-corruption branch late at night after completing the examinations.

Additional Arrests

Along with Dr. Ghosh, two vendors, Biplav Singha and Suman Hazar, and Dr. Ghosh’s additional security, Afsar Ali, were also arrested by the CBI.

Statements and Reactions

Union State Minister Sukanta Majumdar stated that he had predicted Dr. Ghosh’s arrest in the corruption case. The Indian Medical Association (IMA) of Kolkata suspended Dr. Ghosh’s membership amid the CBI probe.
