Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya Launches Second Phase of KIRTI Program in New Delhi
The Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, launched the second phase of the KIRTI (Khelo India Rising Talent Identification) program at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi. The event was attended by Member of Parliament Manoj Tiwari, Kamaljeet Sehrawat, senior officials, and many school children.
What is KIRTI?
KIRTI aims to find and develop young sports talent from all over India, including remote areas like the north-east, coastal, Himalayan, and tribal regions. The program will assess 1 lakh athletes within 100 days and aims to make India a top 5 Olympic nation by 2047.
Dr. Mandaviya’s Speech
Dr. Mandaviya emphasized India’s diversity and potential in sports. He mentioned that the government, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is committed to supporting talented athletes. He encouraged the young attendees, saying, “Among you, there will certainly be an Olympic champion.”
Program Details
The KIRTI program will conduct assessments in 100 locations, covering sports like Athletics, Football, Volleyball, Kabaddi, and Kho-Kho. In Delhi, the Sports Authority of India (SAI) and the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) will assess over 25,000 students in 12 zones over 27 days. The program will eventually include all 20 disciplines of the Khelo India scheme.

The KIRTI program aims to conduct 20 lakh assessments within a year, providing opportunities for young athletes to develop their skills and pursue a career in sports.
