Dr. Jitendra Singh Highlights India’s Growth in Startups and Innovation at Vigyan Bharati Convention

New Delhi [India], June 23: Dr. Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State, spoke at the 6th National Convention of Vigyan Bharati (ViBha) at MIT-ADT University. He traced India’s scientific revolution from 350 startups in 2014 to nearly 1.5 lakh in 2024, noting that India has established its own standards while meeting international ones.

Dr. Singh highlighted that India now stands 3rd in global startups and has climbed from 81st position in 2014 to 40th in the Global Innovation Index. He praised the success of India’s new space policy, which has opened the space sector to private enterprises, growing from one startup in 2022 to around 200 in 2024.

He emphasized India’s unique approach to innovation, stating, “Indian solutions for Indian problems and Indian data for Indian innovations.” Dr. Singh also discussed India’s extensive marine resources and the deep sea mission, which aims to position India as a leading contributor to the blue economy and a top exporter of fisheries.

Additionally, he shared about the government’s efforts to explore traditional knowledge through the ‘Traditional Knowledge Digital Library,’ blending traditional wisdom with modern innovation. He noted that during the COVID-19 pandemic, many individuals turned to Ayurvedic remedies, changing their views on oriental medicine.
