In Mainpuri, Uttar Pradesh, Dr. Avnish Shakya, representing the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), has officially filed his nomination for the Karhal Assembly by-election. This election was prompted by the resignation of Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav, who was elected as a Member of Parliament from Kannauj.

Earlier, on Monday, Tej Pratap Singh Yadav, the SP candidate, also submitted his nomination for the same seat. The nomination process for the nine assembly seats in Uttar Pradesh will continue until October 25.

Samajwadi Party’s Confidence

SP MP Dimple Yadav expressed strong confidence in winning the Karhal by-election, stating that the party is well-prepared and optimistic about the results. Tej Pratap Yadav echoed this sentiment, noting that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has yet to announce a candidate and that the public supports the SP.

Upcoming By-Elections

The by-elections in Uttar Pradesh will occur on November 13, with vote counting scheduled for November 23. The Election Commission of India has announced bypolls for nine of the ten vacant assembly seats, excluding Milkipur in Ayodhya due to a pending election petition. These bypolls are part of a larger electoral process spanning 15 states across India.
