Donald Trump’s Win: A Boost for India’s Exports

Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India

Indian Economist Suriya Narayan has expressed optimism about Donald Trump’s election as the President of the United States, highlighting potential benefits for India’s export sector. Narayan noted that Trump’s plan to impose a 60% duty on Chinese goods could open up opportunities for India, particularly in agro and pharmaceutical exports.

India is already a leading exporter of pharmaceutical products to the US, and this development could further enhance trade relations. Narayan also mentioned the strong friendship between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Trump, which could positively impact bilateral ties.

Furthermore, Narayan suggested that Trump’s presidency might benefit the European economy by potentially ending the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, which has been detrimental to Europe. This change could also favor India as exports from China to the US might be replaced by Indian goods.

Indian-Americans are celebrating Trump’s victory, hopeful for economic growth, improved border security, and global peace. Avinash Gupta, President of the Foreign Indian Association, emphasized the importance of Trump’s relationship with Modi in strengthening India-US relations.

Additionally, Professor C Santhamma, related to US Vice-Presidential candidate JD Vance’s wife, expressed her happiness over the election results, highlighting familial connections.
