Donald Trump’s Campaign Hacked by Foreign Sources
Former US President Donald Trump’s presidential campaign announced that it had been hacked. The claim came after an anonymous email from an AOL account named ‘Robert’ shared internal documents from Trump’s campaign.
Microsoft Report
A report from Microsoft attributed the breach to ‘foreign sources hostile to the United States,’ specifically mentioning Iranian hackers. These hackers allegedly sent a spear phishing email in June to a high-ranking official in a presidential campaign.
Documents Leaked
The leaked documents included a 271-page research dossier on Trump’s running mate, JD Vance, and a similar document on Senator Marco Rubio. These documents were obtained illegally and intended to interfere with the 2024 election.
Iranian Involvement
Reports also emerged that Iran was plotting to kill Trump as revenge for the killing of Iranian military officer Qassem Soleimani in 2020. However, the Iranian mission to the UN denied any intent to interfere in the US election.

Trump campaign spokesperson Steven Cheung stated, ‘These documents were obtained illegally from foreign sources hostile to the United States, intended to interfere with the 2024 election and sow chaos throughout our Democratic process.’
The Iranian mission to the UN said, ‘The Iranian Government neither possesses nor harbors any intent or motive to interfere in the United States presidential election.’
