Donald Trump Questions Kamala Harris’ Racial Identity, Harris Responds

Former US President Donald Trump has continued to raise questions about Vice President Kamala Harris’ racial identity. On Thursday, Trump shared a picture on his social media site, Truth Social, featuring Harris dressed in a sari with her family. He appreciated her love for her Indian heritage.

Trump stated, “Thank you Kamala for the nice picture you sent from many years ago! Your warmth, friendship, and love of your Indian Heritage are very much appreciated.”

Trump’s comments have brought Harris’ ethnic identity into the spotlight during the US presidential election campaign. He claimed that Harris, who has Indian heritage, “turned black” a few years ago and now wants to be known as a woman of color. Trump made these remarks at a gathering of journalists of color in Chicago.

Kamala Harris’ mother was Indian, and her father is Jamaican. She is the first woman of color and the first Asian American vice president. If she wins the upcoming polls, she will become the first woman president of the US.

In response, Harris criticized Trump at a Houston fundraiser, stating that the American people deserve better. She emphasized the choice between two different visions for the nation, accusing Trump of trying to take the country backward. Harris said, “We are not going back. We all remember what those four years were like, and today we got yet another reminder. This afternoon, Donald Trump spoke at the annual meeting of the National Association of Black Journalists, and it was the same old show, the divisiveness and the disrespect. Let me just say, the American people deserve better.”

Harris further added, “The American people deserve a leader who does tell the truth, who does not respond with hostility and anger when confronted with the facts. We deserve a leader who understands that differences don’t divide us, they are an essential source of our strength.”
