US President-elect Donald Trump has selected South Dakota’s Republican Governor Kristi Noem to lead the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Noem, 52, was once considered as a potential running mate for Trump. In her book, “No Going Back: The Truth on What’s Wrong with Politics and How We Move America Forward,” she shared a story about euthanizing her dog, Cricket, for being “untrainable.”

The DHS is responsible for protecting the US from terror threats, securing borders, and enforcing immigration laws. It includes agencies like the Secret Service, TSA, FEMA, and CISA, which helps prevent cyber and infrastructure attacks. Trump has also announced plans for the largest deportation operation in US history, with Tom Homan as the “Border Czar.”

Additionally, Stephen Miller is expected to be named White House deputy chief of staff for policy. Trump emphasized Homan’s expertise in border control, stating he will oversee the deportation of illegal immigrants.
