Donald Trump Calls for Unity and Promises Changes at Republican Convention

Former US President Donald Trump concluded his speech at the Republican National Convention by urging Americans to come together and rise above past differences. He emphasized the need for unity and a brighter future for America.

Unity and a Brighter Future

Trump stated, “We must now come together, rise above past differences. Any disagreements have to be put aside. America’s future will be bigger, better, bolder, brighter, happier, stronger, freer, greater and more united than ever before.” He was later joined on stage by his wife, Melania Trump, and daughter Ivanka Trump.

Addressing Illegal Immigration

Trump criticized the current administration’s handling of illegal immigration, stating that the US is facing an invasion from South America, Asia, and the Middle East. He promised to secure the borders and stop illegal immigration, which he claimed was causing job losses and economic hardship.

“I will resolve the illegal immigration crisis by securing our borders. In just under four years, our adversaries transformed our achievements into hardship. Our cities are overrun by illegal immigrants, stealing jobs from Black, Hispanic, and union workers. Inflation has eradicated savings, plunging the middle class into despair. We must not let this persist,” Trump said.

Promises for the Future

Trump also promised to end the electric vehicle mandate, cut taxes, and build an Iron Dome in the US. He shared a story about a waitress who was struggling with taxes on her tips and proposed eliminating taxes on tips to help individuals like her.

“A waitress shared with me that the government is giving her a hard time over her tips. I proposed, ‘What if there was no tax on tips?’ She was thrilled by the idea. It’s evident that individuals like waitresses, caddies, and drivers are adversely affected by taxes on their earnings. Let them retain their earnings,” Trump said.
