Doctors in Goa to Protest for Justice for Kolkata Doctor
The Indian Medical Association (Goa Branch) will conduct a protest march in Panaji on August 17, demanding justice for a doctor who was raped and murdered at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata. The protest will also highlight the need for women’s safety at workplaces.
Protest Details
The protest will start at 9:00 am from Azad Maidan Panaji and proceed with a silent march towards the Old GMC Complex near ESG, where the rally will end.

Nationwide Protests
Doctors across the nation have intensified their protests. Junior doctors and medical students at Gandhi Hospital in Hyderabad and RML Hospital in Delhi staged protests. A 12-hour general strike was called in Siliguri by the Socialist Unity Centre of India (Communist). The Indian Medical Association announced a nationwide withdrawal of services from 6 am on August 17 to 6 am on August 18.

On August 14, a mob of 5,000 to 7,000 people invaded RG Kar Hospital, attacking protesting doctors and medical students. The postgraduate trainee doctor was raped and murdered on August 9.
