The Federation of Resident Doctors Association (FORDA) launched a nationwide strike on Monday, demanding justice for a trainee doctor who was raped and murdered at RG Kar Medical College in Kolkata. Doctors gathered outside various hospitals, including Lok Nayak Hospital and Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital in Delhi, to voice their demands.

FORDA General Secretary Sarvesh Pandey stated that around 3 lakh doctors have joined the protest and will continue indefinitely until their demands are met. FORDA India President Dr. Aviral Mathur emphasized that the strike aims to ensure patient safety and that emergency services will continue.

A protesting doctor at Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital highlighted the biased investigation by the State Government and called for the removal of insensitive authorities at RG Kar Medical College. The Principal of RG Kar Medical College, Prof. (Dr.) Sandip Ghosh, resigned amid the controversy, expressing his sorrow over the incident.

The tragic event, which occurred on August 9, has sparked widespread outrage and protests across the country.
