DMK’s TKS Elangovan Accuses Central Government of Discrimination Against Tamil Nadu
In Chennai, Tamil Nadu, DMK spokesperson TKS Elangovan criticized Union Minister and BJP leader L Murugan’s comments about the party, accusing the central government of unfair treatment. Elangovan claimed that the Centre allocates more funds to Uttar Pradesh than Tamil Nadu, despite the latter contributing more in taxes. Earlier, Union Minister L Murugan accused DMK of promoting discrimination, questioning the authenticity of Tamil names within the DMK family and denying any imposition of Hindi in Tamil Nadu. He argued that Prime Minister Modi is promoting the Tamil language globally, while Tamil Nadu’s Chief Minister MK Stalin is misleading the public by politicizing language issues.
Udhayanidhi Stalin, who faced criticism for encouraging Tamil names for children to resist Hindi imposition, stated that his words were misrepresented. He refused to apologize, citing his commitment to the Dravidian model of governance. He highlighted attempts to impose Hindi through educational policies and changes to the Tamil Thaai Vaazthu, asserting that Tamil Nadu will resist such efforts.
