DMK Leader RS Bharathi Responds to Controversy Over Spiritual Classes in Chennai School

RS Bharathi, the Organisational Secretary of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), has spoken out about the controversy surrounding ‘Spiritual Awakening Classes’ conducted at Ashok Nagar Government Girls Higher Secondary School in Chennai. The classes were organized by an NGO called Paramporul Foundation.

Bharathi criticized the RSS group, stating, “RSS group couldn’t digest the DMK government and tried to put their stamp in Tamil Nadu.” He also mentioned that the Chief Minister had noted the incident and issued a statement.

The School Education Minister, Anbil Mahesh, announced that no such religious events would be conducted in Tamil Nadu again and that a committee has been formed to investigate the matter. The committee will look into who was involved, how it happened, and who gave permission, with actions to be taken within a few days.

Chief Minister MK Stalin also released a statement on X, emphasizing the need for new guidelines to ensure that school programs promote progressive and scientific ideas. He stated, “I have decreed to formulate and issue new guidelines for regulating various programs in schools in the state so that all our school children who are the future generation of Tamilnadu, get progressive-scientific ideas and lifestyles.”

Bharathi also criticized Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi, saying, “Now even after his three years of tenure as Governor, RN Ravi is sitting still as governor. RN Ravi is working like a daily wage governor in Tamil Nadu.”
