DK Suresh Discusses Congress’s Overconfidence in Haryana Elections
In a recent media interaction, former Congress MP DK Suresh, who is also the brother of Karnataka’s Deputy CM DK Shivakumar, shared insights on the party’s performance in the Haryana assembly elections. He pointed out that overconfidence within the party was a significant factor in their loss.
DK Suresh mentioned that while the INDIA alliance received a favorable mandate in Jammu & Kashmir, the same confidence did not translate into success in Haryana. He emphasized that the party’s high command is thoroughly examining the reasons behind the defeat.
According to the Election Commission, the BJP won 48 out of 90 seats in Haryana, while Congress managed to secure 37 seats. Independents and the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) won 3 and 2 seats, respectively.
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge described the Haryana results as unexpected. He assured that the party would release a detailed response after consulting with ground workers and gathering complete information. Kharge also expressed gratitude to the people of Haryana for their support and encouraged party workers to remain resilient in their ongoing fight against dictatorship.
