Diwali Padwa Celebrations: Ajit Pawar and Sharad Pawar Host Separate Events

Family Tradition Amid Political Tensions

In Baramati, Maharashtra, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and NCP (SCP) chief Sharad Pawar hosted separate Diwali Padwa celebrations at their residences. This marks a change in the Pawar family’s long-standing tradition of celebrating together, due to rising political tensions from the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections.

Separate Celebrations

Ajit Pawar, along with his wife Sunetra and son Parth, hosted the event at their home in Katewadi. Meanwhile, Sharad Pawar and Supriya Sule held their celebration at Govind Bagh. Sharad Pawar expressed his disappointment over the split, stating, “It’s a tradition of many years that on Diwali Padwa we celebrate it together here.”

Reasons for the Split

Ajit Pawar explained the decision to host separate events was to avoid inconveniencing visitors at Govind Bagh. He stated, “We celebrated it separately to avoid inconveniencing people.” Supriya Sule noted that Diwali Padwa is celebrated in every home in Baramati.

Future Plans

Parth Pawar mentioned that the family plans to celebrate Bhai Dooj together next year, despite the current political demands necessitating separate celebrations. The upcoming Maharashtra elections, scheduled for November 20, have intensified preparations in Baramati, with Ajit Pawar and Yugendra Pawar contesting against each other.
