Preparations for the Festival
The Tripura Sundari Temple, one of the 51 revered Shakti Pithas, is preparing for Diwali with grand decorations to welcome thousands of devotees. BJP MLA Abhishek Roy, Chairman of the Matabari Puja Committee, shared details about the festivities. This year, the lighting decorations from Udaipur to Matabari are being enhanced, and both the fair and Puja Aarti will be live-streamed. Displays from the ICA department will be expanded across the state to allow everyone to witness the worship at the temple.
Kali Puja and Cultural Program
In Tripura, Kali Puja is celebrated during this time, and the Mata Tripura Sundari Devi Temple will host rituals. The fair will start on October 31st and last for three days. A 39-hour cultural program featuring artists from outside Tripura is planned. Chief Minister Manik Saha will inaugurate the fair on October 31 at 5 pm, along with other ministers. The fair committee and police will ensure safety, and extra train services have been arranged.
Rituals and Worship
Priest Tanmoy Chakraborty explained the Diwali rituals. On October 31, the temple will open after the Mangala Aarti at 4.30 am, and goddess worship will begin at 10.00 am. The rituals will follow traditional practices dating back to 1500 AD. An offering of food to the goddess will be made at 1.30 pm.
Support for Local Artisans
Earlier, Chief Minister Manik Saha visited potters in Kumar Para, known for making earthen lamps. He encouraged the artisans and bought lamps for his own celebrations, highlighting the importance of supporting local crafts. As Deepawali approaches, Saha extended his best wishes to the artisans and the people of Tripura, emphasizing the vision of “One Tripura, One India, One Great India.”
