Diplomats from 15 Countries Visit Jammu and Kashmir to Witness Elections and Explore Dal Lake

A group of diplomats from various countries visited Jammu and Kashmir’s Budgam to observe the polling process, invited by the Ministry of External Affairs. This was the first visit to the region for many diplomats, including Lim Sang Woo from South Korea and Lara Swart from South Africa. They praised the democratic process and the enthusiasm of voters.

Lim Sang Woo, Deputy Chief of Mission at the South Korean Embassy, admired how children accompanied their parents to the polling booth, calling it a valuable life lesson. Lara Swart, a South African diplomat, expressed her pleasure and privilege in being invited to witness the elections.

US Deputy Chief of Mission Jorgan K Andrews found the experience fascinating and inspiring, noting the thorough preparations and celebratory atmosphere. The diplomats also had the opportunity to visit Srinagar’s Dal Lake and enjoy the scenic beauty of the Kashmir valley.

The visit coincided with the second phase of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections, covering 26 constituencies across six districts.
