Digvijaya Singh Criticizes BJP Over Drug Seizures in Madhya Pradesh
In Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, former Chief Minister Digvijaya Singh has criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) following recent drug busts in the state. Singh claims that many involved in these illegal activities have connections to the Bharatiya Jana Sangh and BJP. On October 12, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) uncovered a factory in Jhabua district producing Mephedrone, seizing 112 kg of the drug. Earlier, on October 6, the Gujarat ATS and NCB seized 907 kg of MD drugs and raw materials worth Rs 1,814 crore in Bhopal.
Singh stated, “Since the time of Bharatiya Jana Sangh, people in Mandsaur and Neemuch have been cultivating opium. Most involved have links to Bharatiya Jana Sangh and BJP.” He expressed his long-standing desire to stop opium cultivation in Madhya Pradesh, citing the negative impact on youth. Singh also mentioned that the seized drugs are imported, with connections to factories in Nashik and Surat, Gujarat.
In response, BJP state secretary Rajneesh Agarwal accused Singh of making baseless statements for attention, questioning his mental balance. Agarwal suggested Singh should address issues within the Congress party instead.
Additionally, Singh condemned a molestation case involving a three-year-old girl in Bhopal, calling for strict action. The incident occurred on October 15, and a case was registered after the child’s counseling and medical examination.
