DIG Shiv Kumar Sharma Prepares for Jammu and Kashmir Elections

Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) of Jammu-Samba-Kathua Range (JSK) Shiv Kumar Sharma visited different far-flung locations in Kathua district to scrutinize the preparation of security arrangements for the forthcoming assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir.

Visits and Meetings

On September 8, DIG Sharma visited Basantpur, Satwain, Mahanpur, Basohli, Sheetal Nagar/Bhoond, and Bani. He convened a meeting with the civil administration and paramilitary forces, briefing them on the sensitivity of their duties and assuring them of full cooperation from the Jammu and Kashmir Police.

Anti-Terrorist Operations

DIG Sharma also interacted with Brigade commander Bani to discuss joint anti-terrorist operations and Cordon and Search procedures. Brigade commander Bani assured better coordination and the elimination of terrorists who have entered the region.

Public Grievances and Training

During his visit to the police post in Bhoond, DIG Sharma directed the in-charge to address public grievances promptly, with special attention to female complainants. He also emphasized the importance of handling NDPS, road accidents, and land dispute cases. Additionally, he interacted with VDG Members, checked their training, and briefed them on their duties.

Election Phases

The assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir will be held in three phases: September 18, September 25, and October 1. The counting of votes will take place on October 8.
