From October 5-9, 2024, Argentina’s Foreign Minister, Diana Mondino, will visit India. She will co-chair the 7th India-Argentina Joint Commission Meeting with India’s External Affairs Minister, S Jaishankar. This visit aims to review and enhance the India-Argentina Strategic Partnership.

Key Meetings and Interactions

During her visit, Mondino will meet with various Indian ministers, including those from Commerce, Industry, Agriculture, Petroleum, and Consumer Affairs. She will also engage with a trade delegation and participate in a business event organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry. Additionally, she will interact with the Observer Research Foundation, a prominent think tank.

Celebrating 75 Years of Diplomatic Relations

This visit coincides with the 75th anniversary of India-Argentina diplomatic relations, which were elevated to a Strategic Partnership in 2019. The two countries share values of mutual respect and understanding, with strong ties across various sectors.

Historical Context

India and Argentina have a history of high-level exchanges. Notable interactions include meetings between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Alberto Fernandez, as well as past visits by Indian leaders such as PM PV Narasimha Rao, President Gyani Zail Singh, PM Indira Gandhi, and VP Dr S Radhakrishnan.
