Dharmendra Pradhan Criticizes Congress Over NEET Controversy

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has accused the Congress party of creating chaos over the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) issue. He claimed that Congress is avoiding discussions and only wants to create confusion.

Pradhan highlighted that the government has initiated reforms in the National Testing Agency (NTA) under the leadership of former ISRO Chairman K Radhakrishnan. A new law has been formed to address the issue, and the case has been handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). New dates for the NEET-PG exam, which was canceled as a precautionary measure, will be announced by Monday or Tuesday next week.

The controversy led to multiple adjournments in both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, with opposition parties demanding a debate on the NEET-UG issue. The CBI is investigating alleged irregularities in the NEET-UG exam conducted on May 5, 2024, which saw an unprecedented 67 candidates achieving a perfect score of 720 marks out of 720.
