Devotees Celebrate Third Monday of Sawan at Kashi Vishwanath and Other Temples
On the third Monday of the month of Sawan, prayers were offered at the Kashi Vishwanath Temple in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. Devotees also gathered at Parmeshwar Mahadev Temple in Ahmedabad and Jharkhand Mahadev Temple in Jaipur to offer prayers and perform rituals.
Earlier today, prayers were offered at the Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, where the Bhasma Aarti was performed. On Friday, devotees thronged the Mahakaleshwar Temple to celebrate ‘Sawan Shivratri’.

The month commemorates the event when Lord Shiva consumed poison that emerged from the churning of the ocean (Samudra Manthan) to save the universe.
