Sawan is a sacred month dedicated to Lord Shiva, typically falling between July and August. It is believed that worshipping Lord Shiva during this month brings abundant blessings. The month commemorates the event when Lord Shiva consumed poison that emerged from the churning of the ocean (Samudra Manthan) to save the universe.

During Sawan, devotees observe fasts on Mondays, abstaining from grains and consuming only fruits, milk, and specific permissible foods. Common practices include chanting Shiva mantras, singing bhajans (devotional songs), and performing Rudrabhishek (ceremonial bathing of Shiva Lingam with holy substances).
