Nomination from Nagpur South West

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis is set to file his nomination as a BJP candidate from the Nagpur South West Assembly constituency for the upcoming Maharashtra Election 2024. Confident of victory, Fadnavis stated, “This is my 6th election. But, just like I had people’s blessings in the last 5 elections, I will have blessings this time too and I will get elected with a good margin.”

Family Support and Mahayuti Alliance

Before filing his nomination, Fadnavis’ family performed traditional rituals, including applying tilak and aarti. He expressed confidence in the Mahayuti alliance’s success, highlighting the developmental work done in the state. “Our agenda is strong. The people have seen our work and the speed with which we have done various developmental work. We will contest the elections on that only,” he said.

Upcoming Elections and Political Alliances

The Maharashtra assembly elections are scheduled for November 20, with counting on November 23. The main contest is between the ruling Mahayuti alliance, which includes the BJP, Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde faction), and Ajit Pawar-led NCP, and the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), comprising Shiv Sena (UBT), NCP (Sharad Pawar faction), and Congress.

Candidate Lists and Seat Allocation

Ajit Pawar-led NCP has released its first list of candidates, with Ajit Pawar contesting from Baramati. In the 2019 elections, BJP won 105 seats, Shiv Sena 56, and Congress 44. A crucial meeting in Delhi with Home Minister Amit Shah and Mahayuti leaders addressed seat allocation disputes. The BJP is expected to leave some seats for the NCP, and Eknath Shinde will concede some seats contested by Shiv Sena in 2019. Most seats were agreed upon, with final decisions pending for a few.
