In September, there were 230 cases and one death, but the numbers increased sharply in early October. Despite the rise, this year’s cases are fewer than last year’s 2,548 cases. The government is taking action by conducting fogging programs to kill mosquitoes, especially in Imphal West.

Health officials are urging people to protect themselves from mosquito bites and keep their surroundings clean. They advise seeking medical help if symptoms like high fever, headache, and joint pain appear. Manipur Health Minister Dr. Sapam Ranjan has asked for public cooperation to control the outbreak.

The health department reports that 292 areas are affected, with Imphal West having the most at 133 areas. Dengue is a disease spread by mosquitoes, common in warm regions. It can cause severe symptoms and even be life-threatening if not treated properly.
