Delhi’s Big Tree Planting Drive: Join Minister Gopal Rai from July 11 to August 9

Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai has announced a tree plantation drive that will take place from July 11 to August 9 at 30 different locations in Delhi. He shared that nearly two crore saplings have been planted over the last four years.

Gopal Rai said, “The monsoon has begun. From July 11 to August 9, in 30 different places in Delhi, a tree plantation drive will take place and plants will be distributed… We request the people to join the drive. Different agencies have been given the task of planting trees.”

He also mentioned that saplings will be distributed for free. The government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, is working to make Delhi greener. Four-and-a-half years ago, Kejriwal promised to plant five crore saplings in Delhi, and two crore have already been planted.

Gopal Rai added, “We had a meeting with all the agencies. It was decided that the government would try to plant 64 lakh saplings in 2024.”

After experiencing an intense heat wave, Delhi received the highest rainfall in 88 years last month.
