Delhi’s Air Pollution Crisis: BJP’s Sachdeva vs AAP’s Kejriwal
In New Delhi, BJP Delhi unit chief Virendraa Sachdeva has raised concerns about the severe air pollution affecting over half of the city’s population. He criticized Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders, including Arvind Kejriwal, Atishi, and Gopal Rai, for their lack of effective action over the past decade. Sachdeva pointed out the non-functional smog tower and blamed potholes for dust pollution.
The AAP government, led by Chief Minister Atishi and Environment Minister Gopal Rai, responded by highlighting their anti-pollution efforts. They have deployed 99 teams for dust control and are using over 325 smog guns. They also identified buses from Uttar Pradesh as a major pollution source in the Anand Vihar area, where the Air Quality Index (AQI) is critically high.
Atishi and Rai have personally inspected the area, repaired roads, and removed encroachments to reduce dust. They plan to discuss pollution issues with the UP government, particularly concerning the Yamuna River’s pollution from untreated effluents.
Rai emphasized the need for joint efforts with the UP government to address pollution from diesel buses and suggested water sprinkling at the Kaushambi bus depot. The rising pollution has also led to toxic foam in the Yamuna River, especially in the Kalindi Kunj area.
