Delhi Water Crisis: LG VK Saxena Criticizes AAP Government, Minister Atishi on Hunger Strike

Delhi LG VK Saxena launched a strong criticism against the AAP-led Delhi government over the ongoing water crisis. He accused the government of repeating the same blame-game story every year without addressing the root issues.

In an official statement, Saxena said, “Heart-rending scenes of people running after tankers and incidents of water shortage are not new in Delhi. This has been happening year after year and every year, the same blame-game story is repeated by the Government on social media and in press conferences.”

He further expressed his disappointment with the AAP government’s approach to governance and service delivery, urging them to revisit their model of governance.

Meanwhile, Delhi Minister Atishi, who is also the Water Minister, has been on an indefinite hunger strike since Friday. She stated that Delhi is receiving less water from Haryana, which has led to an acute shortage affecting over 28 lakh people. Atishi said, “I tried everything but when the Haryana government didn’t agree to supply water, I was left with no choice but to sit on a fast.”

Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, currently in judicial custody, expressed his concern through his wife, Sunita Kejriwal. She read a message from him, saying, “Kejriwal says that when I see on TV, the way Delhi people are suffering due to water scarcity, it hurts me. I hope Atishi’s ‘tapasya’ will succeed and residents of Delhi will get relief.”
