Delhi Power Minister Atishi Ensures Free Electricity for 1984 Sikh Massacre Victims
New Delhi [India], August 21: To provide up to 400 units of free electricity to the victims of the 1984 Sikh massacre in Delhi, Power Minister Atishi held a review meeting with officials from the Revenue and Power Departments. The scheme, initiated in 2018 under Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, aims to support these victims.
Atishi emphasized the government’s commitment to the betterment of all sections of society. She instructed officials to work together to ensure the victims continue to receive the electricity subsidy without any hassle. If the benefits do not reach the beneficiaries, bills up to 400 units should be waived. Special camps will be organized to complete the certification process for those deprived of the subsidy.
Additionally, Atishi directed the Revenue Department to create unique ID cards for the riot victims to help them access government schemes easily. MLA Jarnail Singh from Tilak Nagar was also present at the meeting.
