Delhi Police Review Security Amid Rise in Firing and Snatching Incidents
In response to a surge in firing and snatching incidents in New Delhi, senior officials from the Delhi Police conducted a ground review of security measures. The review, which took place on Monday, involved senior police officials, including Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs), who assessed police pickets and instructed officers to stay vigilant in all situations. Police pickets are additional officers stationed at specific locations to ensure law and order.
Recently, there have been multiple reports of firing and snatching for extortion in Delhi. A jeweller in the Rohini area reported receiving extortion calls from someone claiming to be part of the criminal Kala Jathedi gang. Similarly, a Delhi-based music producer received a Rs 5 crore extortion call from an individual identifying as a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldi Brar Gang.
On November 9, Delhi Police apprehended three juveniles involved in the murder of 22-year-old Nadeem alias Bobby and a subsequent firing incident in the Jyoti Nagar and Welcome areas of North East Delhi. The suspects were caught within hours of the incidents, which occurred on Saturday.
Earlier, on November 6, a firing incident occurred outside the Raj Mandir Hyper Market in the Meera Bagh area, under the jurisdiction of Paschim Vihar West Police Station. On the same day, three individuals on motorcycles fired multiple rounds at a motor workshop in the Dinpur area of Najafgarh.
Two days before the Paschim Vihar West incident, three masked individuals on a two-wheeler fired several rounds at a plywood shop in Delhi’s Nangloi area before fleeing the scene.
