The Delhi Police has taken a significant step by imposing the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) on the notorious gangster Hashim Baba and eight other members of his gang. This action comes as a result of their continuous involvement in various criminal activities.

Who is Hashim Baba?

Hashim Baba is a well-known gangster with multiple cases registered against him. These include allegations of involvement in a murder conspiracy, extortion, violations of the arms act, and the passport act. He has been lodged in Tihar jail since 2020.

Other Gang Members

The other gang members on whom MCOCA has been imposed are Rashid Cablewala, Sachin Golu, Sohail, and Shahrukh. These individuals have allegedly been involved in multiple criminal activities as part of the Hashim gang for a long time.

Recent Arrests

In a joint operation by the Delhi Special Police Cell and the Meerut Special Task Force (STF), two sharp henchmen of the Hashim Baba gang were arrested in Uttar Pradesh. The suspects, Anas Khan (18) and Asad Ameen (21), were involved in the murder of a 35-year-old gym owner, Nadir Shah, who was shot dead in South Delhi on September 12.

During the encounter with the police, Anas and Asad were shot in the leg. Three pistols with nine live cartridges were recovered from their possession. Anas has been wanted in four criminal cases in Delhi, including two for murder and two for attempted murder.
