The Delhi Police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) against Jai Bhagwan Upkar, a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). The FIR accuses him of assaulting an official from the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) during an inspection at a meat house in Shahbad Dairy.

Incident Details

The incident reportedly occurred when Sunil Kumar Ranga, an MCD official, and his team were conducting a raid on illegal slaughterhouses in the Shahbad Dairy area. According to the police, a scuffle broke out between the MLA and the MCD employee, leading to alleged misbehavior by the MLA.

Complaint Filed

The MCD official has filed a complaint citing various sections of the law, including the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960. The complaint mentions that the shop owner, Gul Mohammad, was asked to pay a compensation fee of Rs 37,500, calculated at Rs 2,500 per goat. However, he refused to pay and allegedly threatened the MCD team by calling his workers.

Further Developments

The FIR also states that the AAP MLA, along with former councillor Shraddhanan and others, arrived at the scene, leading to a verbal and physical altercation. The police are continuing their investigation into the matter.
