Delhi Police Files Charge Sheet Against Bibhav Kumar in Swati Maliwal Case

The Delhi Police have filed a charge sheet against Bibhav Kumar in the Swati Maliwal assault case at Tis Hazari Court. Bibhav, who is an aide to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, appeared before the court via video conferencing from Tihar Jail.

Judicial Magistrate First Class Gaurav Goyal took the charge sheet on record, which was filed by Additional Public Prosecutor Atul Srivastava. Additional DCP A Chepyala was also present during the hearing.

The charge sheet includes Sections 308, 354, 354 B, 506, 509, 341, and 201 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). As evidence, the police have included Bibhav Kumar’s mobile phone, SIM card, and CCTV footage from the Chief Minister’s residence. The charge sheet is 500 pages long, with 100 people examined and 50 made witnesses.

The court will consider the charge sheet on July 30 and has directed the jail authorities to produce Bibhav physically on that date. Bibhav remains in judicial custody, with previous bail pleas dismissed by both the trial court and the High Court. He was arrested on May 18 following a complaint by AAP MP Swati Maliwal regarding an incident on May 13 at the Chief Minister’s residence.
