Delhi Police Constable Sandeep Malik Dies After Being Hit by Car in Nangloi
New Delhi [India], September 30: Delhi Police has arrested one person in connection with the incident in West Delhi’s Nangloi where a police constable died after his bike was hit and dragged by a car. The car’s occupants were allegedly in an inebriated condition.
Incident Details
According to the FIR, on Sunday at around 2 am, Constable Sandeep Malik stopped two occupants of a car from drinking alcohol inside the vehicle. The constable asked them to leave the area, but they refused. When Malik asked the driver to proceed to the police station, the driver sped away. Malik chased the car on his motorcycle. CCTV footage shows the car ramming into Malik’s bike, dragging him for about 10 meters, and crushing him between the car and a parked vehicle.
Arrests and Investigation
The arrested accused has been identified as Rajneesh alias Sittu, a resident of Veena Enclave. The other accused, Dharmendra, who was allegedly driving the car, is still at large. Constable Sandeep Malik was on patrol duty dressed in civilian clothes due to increased burglaries in the area. He was taken to Sonia Hospital and later shifted to Balaji Hospital in Paschim Vihar but was declared dead. A postmortem was conducted, and the car has been seized. Multiple teams have been formed for investigation, and several places have been raided in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Haryana.

Jimmy Chiram, DCP Outer Delhi Police, stated, “Constable Sandeep of the 2018 Batch was 30 years old and was posted at Nangloi police station. The incident happened at around 2:15 am. Sandeep had gone for on-duty beat patrolling on his bike. When he was taking a left turn on Veena Enclave and crossed another four-wheeler, he asked them to stop. But then the car hit him and dragged him for 10 meters. He had serious head injuries. Primafacie it looks like road rage but once the accused is apprehended, we will know further.”
Rajneesh alias Sittu was apprehended on Sunday evening in Model Town. He told interrogators that while he was present in the car during the incident, his friend Dharmendra was driving the vehicle. The police confirmed that the car was registered in Dharmendra’s name.
