Delhi Police Busts Illegal Kidney Racket Led by Sandeep Arya

The Crime Branch of Delhi Police has uncovered an illegal kidney racket that was operating across several states, including Delhi-NCR, Punjab, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, and Gujarat. Eight people have been arrested, including the kingpin Sandeep Arya.

Details of the Racket

The racket involved forging documents for kidney transplants in exchange for money. The arrested individuals include transplant coordinators, patients, and donors. The police seized 34 stamps, six forged files, blank documents, materials to prepare stamps, two laptops, 17 mobile phones, nine SIM cards, and Rs 1.5 lakhs. A Mercedes car used by Sandeep Arya was also confiscated.

How the Racket Operated

Sandeep Arya, a resident of Noida, worked as a transplant coordinator in various hospitals. He contacted patients and arranged kidney transplants, charging Rs 35-40 lakhs per transplant. He saved Rs 7-8 lakhs from each operation. The racket exploited donors from poor financial backgrounds, offering them Rs 5-6 lakhs for their kidneys.

The forged documents showed donors and patients as close relatives or residents of different states to pass the scrutiny of the Transplant Authorization Committee. The syndicate succeeded in performing kidney transplants in 11 hospitals across different states.
