Delhi Police Arrests Three in Rs 2.39 Crore CNG Pump Fraud Case

The IFSO Unit of Delhi Police has successfully dismantled a syndicate responsible for cheating victims by promising to install petrol and CNG pumps. Three suspects, Amit Kumar Pandey, Amrendra Kumar, and Amar Singh, have been arrested for defrauding a complainant of Rs 2.39 crore.

How the Fraud Happened

In 2021, the complainant was researching petrol/CNG pump allotment processes online when he was approached by Amit Kumar Pandey and Amrendra Kumar, who posed as agents of Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL). They promised to install a CNG pump on his land with minimal formalities.

The fraudsters created fake documents, including a registration certificate, bank account details, and an invoice with a GST number, to convince the complainant. They received Rs 1.79 crore through dummy bank accounts and Rs 60 lakh in cash.

Investigation and Arrest

After the complainant reported the fraud on March 27, 2024, the police registered a case and began investigating. They traced the money trail and verified the fake documents with IGL. Using mobile number analysis and technical surveillance, the police located and arrested the suspects.

Amit Kumar Pandey was identified as the mastermind who forged the documents, while Amrendra Kumar collected the cash. Amar Singh, a former employee of the Ministry of Petroleum, posed as a facilitator. The suspects used SIM cards registered in other people’s names and fake email IDs to avoid detection.

Ongoing Investigation

The investigation is ongoing to identify other co-conspirators and any potential connections to IGL. More details are awaited.
