Delhi Police Arrests Man for Stealing Medical Equipment and 17 for Cybercrimes

The Delhi Police’s Saket police station has arrested a man named Yogesh Kumar, who allegedly stole expensive medical equipment from hospitals by posing as a medical equipment representative. Yogesh was caught on August 29 and confessed to stealing two pieces of medical equipment worth around four to five lakhs. He sold the stolen equipment online at cheaper prices. The police recovered one indirect ophthalmoscope and one scan pachymeter from his possession.

The case was registered on August 19 after Max Hospital, Saket, filed a complaint regarding the theft of an indirect ophthalmoscope from their ophthalmology department. The police team analyzed CCTV footage and gathered inputs from technical sources to identify Yogesh, a 55-year-old resident of Shahibabad, Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. He worked for a company that supplies medical equipment to hospitals and had stolen equipment from Max Hospital and Yashoda Hospital, Kaushambi, Uttar Pradesh.

Meanwhile, Delhi Police have arrested 17 individuals accused of various cybercrimes in a series of raids conducted across multiple states. Rohit Meena, DCP South West, stated, ‘The Cyber South West district apprehended 17 suspects involved in various cybercrimes. Multiple teams conducted raids across different states as part of a week-long Special Cyber Ops.’ Raids were carried out in Mewat, Ajmer, Jodhpur in Rajasthan, Deoghar and Dumka in Jharkhand, Rajgarh and Sehore in Madhya Pradesh, Samastipur in Bihar, Giridih and Jamtara in Jharkhand, Pratapgarh in Uttar Pradesh, and Mumbai.
