Delhi Police Arrests Detective Tarun Daniel for Selling Call Records
New Delhi [India], July 21: The Crime Branch of Delhi Police has arrested a private detective named Tarun Daniel for illegally obtaining and selling call detail records (CDRs) of mobile numbers. Tarun, 60, was caught after a tip-off led undercover officers to pose as customers seeking CDRs.
According to the police, Tarun demanded Rs 60,000 for the CDRs. The decoy customer transferred Rs 29,000 online, and the next day, Tarun sent the CDR via WhatsApp, demanding an additional Rs 31,000. A meeting was arranged near Dwarka Mod, where the Crime Branch team arrested Tarun on the spot.
During interrogation, Tarun admitted to having contacts within telecommunication companies who provided the CDRs. The Crime Branch is now searching for others involved in this illegal activity.
