Delhi Police Arrests 108 Fraudulent Agents at Indira Gandhi International Airport

The Indira Gandhi International Airport Police in New Delhi has arrested 108 fraudulent agents involved in visa and passport scams over the past six months. This is a significant increase from 51 arrests in the same period in 2023.

The police have focused on holding agents accountable, leading to the apprehension of numerous offenders. Public awareness is crucial to prevent individuals from falling victim to these scams. The police urge the public to report any suspicious activity.

Key Arrests and Operations

Arrests have been made nationwide, including in Punjab, Gujarat, Haryana, Maharashtra, and West Bengal. The police have issued 76 Look Out Circulars (LOCs) for agents who have fled abroad or remain untraceable. Several Proclaimed Offenders (POs) from cases over a decade old have also been apprehended this year.

Types of Scams Uncovered

The investigations have revealed various rackets and scams, including:

  • Fake departure/arrival stamps
  • Using ‘donkey routes’ for illegal entry
  • Producing fake visas and passports
  • Creating fake identities for foreign nationals
  • Impersonation schemes

In 2024, 19 agents involved in fake visa cases, 11 agents using donkey routes, 24 agents using someone else’s passport, and 21 agents providing fake Indian passports for foreign nationals have been arrested.

The police emphasize the importance of public awareness to prevent individuals from falling victim to fraudulent agents. These agents often exploit people’s aspirations for better opportunities abroad, leading them into legal jeopardy.
