Delhi Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj Detained During Protest

On Saturday, Delhi police detained Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Saurabh Bharadwaj and other party members. They were protesting outside the residence of Lieutenant Governor (LG) VK Saxena. The protest was about regularizing bus marshals and civil defense volunteers.

Allegations Against BJP

Saurabh Bharadwaj accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of betraying 10,000 bus marshals. He claimed that BJP leader Vijender Gupta had promised to regularize bus marshals through the LG if a resolution was passed by the cabinet. However, Bharadwaj stated that both the LG and BJP leaders have not kept their promise.

Previous Detentions

Earlier, Bharadwaj and other AAP leaders were detained while protesting at Chandgiram Akhara in Delhi. They demanded the reinstatement of bus marshals.

LG’s Meeting with Bus Marshals

LG VK Saxena met with bus marshals in his office. The BJP’s Delhi official handle posted about this meeting, stating that the LG assured the marshals that their request would be considered positively. The meeting was facilitated by State President Virendra Sachdeva.

Delhi CM’s Statement

Delhi Chief Minister Atishi stated that the issue of marshals falls under service matters, which are the LG’s responsibility. She accused the BJP of not pressuring the LG to act. Atishi mentioned that an emergency cabinet meeting was called, and a resolution to regularize bus marshals was signed. She criticized the BJP for not asking the LG to pass the cabinet note, calling it a betrayal against the bus marshals.
