Delhi Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj Detained During Protest

Protest for Bus Marshals’ Reinstatement

Delhi Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Saurabh Bharadwaj, along with other party members, was detained by police during a protest at Chandgiram Akhara in Delhi. The protest aimed to demand the reinstatement of bus marshals, whose services were terminated by Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena last year.

Statements from Saurabh Bharadwaj

While being detained, Bharadwaj expressed solidarity with the bus marshals, stating, “We are with the bus marshals. They are poor. They have been removed as part of a conspiracy. Arvind Kejriwal will get them reinstated.”

Call for Discussion

Earlier, Bharadwaj mentioned waiting for the BJP to join discussions with the LG on the issue. He stated, “We are not here to fight. On 26th September, it was decided at the Delhi Assembly that on October 3rd, all MLAs and Ministers of AAP and BJP would go to meet (Delhi) LG and we would sign whichever paper we were asked to sign and they (bus marshals) would be appointed. We have come here today and we are waiting for BJP.”

AAP’s Official Statement

The AAP’s official handle on X posted about the protest, demanding the reinstatement of the bus marshals. They stated, “Aam Aadmi Party MLAs have joined the protest of Bus Marshals and supported the demand for their reinstatement. LG sahab should reinstate these bus marshals soon so that they can also celebrate the festival happily with their children and family.”

Chief Minister Atishi’s Letter

Last month, Delhi Chief Minister Atishi wrote to LG VK Saxena, requesting the restoration of the bus marshals’ jobs. She highlighted the sudden halt of their salaries and the end of their duties on frivolous grounds, putting the Bus Marshal Scheme in limbo.
