Delhi Minister Gopal Rai Criticizes BJP Over Air Pollution

In New Delhi, AAP leader and Delhi Minister Gopal Rai criticized the BJP for not taking adequate steps to address air pollution. He emphasized the need for collective efforts to tackle the crisis, accusing BJP governments in UP, Haryana, Rajasthan, and the central government of inaction.

Anti-Dust Campaign in Delhi

Rai highlighted Delhi’s anti-dust campaign, which began on October 7. So far, 523 teams have inspected 2,764 construction sites, imposing fines totaling Rs 17.40 lakh. The campaign is monitored from the Green War Room, enforcing 14 anti-dust rules at construction sites.

Current Air Quality Index

The Air Quality Index (AQI) in Delhi dropped to 226, categorized as ‘Poor’. The highest AQI was 334 at Akshardham and Anand Vihar, marked as ‘Very Poor’.

BJP’s Response

BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla criticized AAP, blaming Arvind Kejriwal’s politics for the pollution. He challenged Kejriwal to take a dip in the Yamuna River, claiming funds for its cleaning were misused.

The overall AQI in Delhi was 297, indicating ‘Poor’ air quality, which can cause breathing discomfort on prolonged exposure.
