Delhi Minister Atishi Urges LG VK Saxena to Reinstate Bus Marshals

Delhi Minister Atishi has written a letter to Delhi Lieutenant Governor (LG) VK Saxena, requesting him to restore the jobs of bus marshals. In her letter, Atishi highlighted the importance of bus marshals, who were primarily deployed through the pool of Civil Defence volunteers of the Government of NCT of Delhi.

Atishi expressed surprise that, after eight years of successful implementation, the salaries of these bus marshals were suddenly stopped on the orders of LG Saxena. She argued that the presence of CCTV cameras and panic buttons in buses cannot replace the need for armed personnel to ensure the safety of women passengers.

Atishi emphasized that the removal of bus marshals has not only impacted the security of women and children in public buses but also left many bus marshals jobless, affecting their families. She called the move heartless and urged LG Saxena to reconsider the decision.

Atishi assured that the elected government in Delhi is ready to provide all possible support to restore the bus marshals to their jobs and hoped for a positive decision from LG Saxena at the earliest.
