Delhi Minister Atishi Hospitalized During Hunger Strike for Water Rights

Delhi Minister Atishi has been admitted to Lok Nayak Jai Prakash (LNJP) Hospital after her health condition deteriorated during an indefinite hunger strike. She is protesting against the Haryana government for not releasing 100 million gallons of water per day to Delhi, causing a severe water crisis.

Atishi’s Hunger Strike

Atishi began her hunger strike on June 22, demanding that Haryana release Delhi’s share of water. Her strike entered its fifth day on Tuesday, and her health has significantly worsened, with dangerous drops in blood pressure and sugar levels.

Health Concerns

Doctors have advised Atishi to be hospitalized due to her deteriorating health. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) stated that she is risking her life to fight for the water rights of 28 lakh Delhi residents.

Water Crisis in Delhi

The AAP has accused Haryana of supplying 100 million gallons less water per day, severely affecting the lives of Delhi residents. The water shortage has been exacerbated by high temperatures and heat waves, forcing people to rely on water tankers for their daily needs.
