Delhi Minister Atishi Ends Hunger Strike Over Water Crisis

Delhi Water Minister and AAP leader Atishi was discharged from Lok Nayak Hospital on Thursday. She was admitted after her health deteriorated during an indefinite hunger strike over the Delhi water crisis and the supply of water from Haryana.

Atishi’s Hunger Strike

Atishi began her hunger strike on June 22, protesting for Haryana to release Delhi’s water share. Her health worsened, leading to her hospitalization. AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh announced the end of the strike but promised to continue raising the issue in Parliament.

Water Crisis in Delhi

The AAP alleges that Haryana is supplying 100 million gallons less water daily, affecting 28 lakh people in Delhi. The water shortage has been exacerbated by high temperatures and heat waves, forcing residents to rely on water tankers.
