New Delhi, July 2: Delhi Minister Atishi highlighted the importance of the Constitution in reducing India’s deep inequalities at a foundation stone-laying ceremony for new court buildings in Karkardooma, Shastri Park, and Rohini. Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud laid the foundation stone and emphasized the need for a just and inclusive judicial system.

Importance of the Constitution

Atishi stated, “The Constitution is the last resort for Indian society as it strives to reduce its deep inequality, which persisted even after 75 years of independence.” She emphasized the responsibilities of the legislature and executive in fulfilling the vision of the Indian Constitution.

Efforts Towards Equality

Atishi mentioned various initiatives such as building schools, providing world-class education, improving healthcare infrastructure, and supporting economic opportunities for women and the poorest sections of society.

Chief Justice’s Remarks

Chief Justice DY Chandrachud said, “When we invest in the safety, accessibility, and comfort of our judges, lawyers, and litigants, we make for a just and inclusive system.” He highlighted the importance of justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity in the legal and constitutional system.

Lieutenant Governor’s Views

Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena stressed the need for the rule of law and justice to secure the rights of all citizens. He praised Chief Justice Chandrachud’s efforts in improving judicial infrastructure and using technology for speedy and fair case disposal.
