Delhi Mayor Shelly Oberoi Asks for Rs 10,000 Crores from Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman
Delhi Mayor Shelly Oberoi has written a letter to Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, requesting a fair allocation of central government funds for Delhi’s development and maintenance. She asked for Rs 10,000 crores to support the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD).
In her letter, Oberoi stated, “I am writing to you on behalf of the citizens of Delhi and the MCD to urgently request a fair and equitable share of central government funds for the development and maintenance of our city.” She highlighted that Delhi contributes significantly to the national economy but receives no central funding.
The requested Rs 10,000 crores would be used as follows:

“By investing in Delhi, you are investing in the nation’s capital and the well-being of millions of citizens who contribute significantly to the country’s progress,” Oberoi said.
