Delhi LG VK Saxena Criticizes Health Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj Over Doctor Shortage

New Delhi [India], August 4: Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena launched a strong criticism against Delhi Health Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj regarding the shortage of doctors in hospitals. Saxena stated that the appointments, postings, and transfers are decided by the National Capital Civil Service Authority (NCCSA), which is headed by the Chief Minister.

In an official statement, Saxena said, “10 years of misgovernance masqueraded by advertisements and propaganda has begun to implode. Now that the system is crumbling, Press Conference Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj is frantically searching for alibis.”

He further criticized the AAP’s health model, mentioning that the High Court had to intervene due to the poor state of GNCTD hospitals. A committee led by Dr. SK Sareen was appointed to improve the situation, but its report was not acted upon by Bharadwaj.

Saxena also pointed out issues like fraud in Mohalla clinics, no new hospitals in 10 years, and a significant increase in hospital construction tenders. He emphasized that any service matter, including appointments and transfers, is decided by the NCCSA and put up to the LG.

“CM Arvind Kejriwal has not convened a single meeting of NCCSA for ages. Even when he was out on bail and authorized by the Supreme Court to do so. PC Minister Bharadwaj would have done well to bring these matters to his Boss, Arvind Kejriwal when he was out on bail and asked him to act, rather than writing fig leaf alibis to LG,” the statement added.

Earlier, Saurabh Bharadwaj said that LG VK Saxena did not give any order to recruit doctors despite his letters. Bharadwaj mentioned that he suggested recruiting doctors on a contractual basis due to the lengthy UPSC exam procedure, but no action was taken.
